Did you know?
Fibroids are the most common non-cancerous condition found in the uterus.
Up to 75% of women attending screening ultrasound can have fibroids detected in the uterus, many of which are small (<2cm). Some 25% of women may have larger fibroids (>4cm) that need further assessment. Fibroids may not always cause symptoms, but can sometimes reduce the chance of pregnancy.
Signs of Uterine Fibroids
Many women with fibroids may have no symptoms. If you have the following symptoms, check with your doctor if they are caused by fibroids.
Heavy menstrual flow with clots
Prolonged menstrual flow causing tiredness
Abdominal bloating and/or discomfort
Frequent urination from pressure on bladder
Pelvic ache and/or pressure sensation
Difficulty trying to get pregnant

If you experience these symptoms, a detailed assessment by a gynaecologist experienced in fibroid management will give you accurate evidenced based information to guide your fibroid treatment
